Since beginning to serve as
RTAC’s Executive Director on September 4, 2012,
I have enjoyed a unique and fulfilling experience to
facilitate RTAC’s mission to protect retired Chicago
teachers’ pensions and ancillary benefits. Throughout
these years, I have had the unique experience of being
able to work with a wide range of individuals on the
Board of Directors as well as the general membership.
These years have flown by filled with the many
challenges which the organization has addressed from
the outset of my tenure. It started with working to defeat the Illinois General Assembly’s proposed legislation to cancel our Automatic Annual Increase, moving our office to a condominium office which we own; the restoration of the Chicago Public School tax levy used to fund our CTPF pension which was removed legislatively in 1995 and not restored until 2017, increasing the number of days retirees could serve as ‘guest teachers’ (previously known as substitutes) as well as many other significant challenges. I appreciate having been able to work with seven different RTAC Boards of Directors, our RTAC staff, and of course our members. I continue to be committed to: 1) facilitating ongoing communication with the RTAC Board of Directors, its committees, and especially our membership at large, 2) providing effective fiscal management of RTAC’s and CRTAF’ assets so that we can continue to operate efficiently during our second century; and 3) using current technology and working with our RTAC staff to address members’ need. Looking forward to continuing RTAC’s mission in its second century. Arlene Crandall Executive Director Back to the RTAC Home Page |
