Why can't RTAC and the lobbyests have a twitter account and tweet the latest information on a minute by minute basis?

WENT TO LEGISLATIVE PAGE AND READ TO REFER TO KYLE'S COMMENTS ON GUESTBOOK. SECOND TO LAST SENTENCE FROM KYLE SAYS "IT IS BELIEVED" RETURNED TO LEGISLATIVE PAGE AND IT STATES "MOST PROBABLY" THESE BILLS WILL NOT AFFECT THE CTPF. THESE TERMS DENOTE THAT THE POSSIBILITY DOES EXIST OF THE BILLS APPLYING TO CTPF. DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT MAYOR RAHM WILL NOT GET SOME SORT OF PENSION REFORM THROUGH SPRINGFIELD FOR CHICAGO? I WHOLEHEARTILY AGREE WITH ALICE'S COMMENTS. WE NEED MORE INFO. WHY IS IT SO HARD TO GET?

I agree with you that the website could be organized much better but, as an about to be retired (June '13 YEA) teacher I found the historical information about the past struggles, speeches and articles very interesting and informative. I was also concerned about the lack of information on certain bills even though NONE of them apply to Chicago teachers. I recently talked to my state rep and her opinion is that they would never be applied to Chicago because the state would then be obligated to provide full funding for CTPF. A bit under 25% of the retired teacher in IL are from Chicago and yet the state only pays less than 5% of pension money to CTPF. Last year over $2 Billion was provided to TRS and less than $100 Million to CTPF. That is less than 5%. If any of these bills are amended to include Chicago then it is believed that Chicago must receive its fair share of $500+ million. This would be a big increase in pension costs for the state.

Why would we be asked to support SB2252? Yes, it does eliminate the $65M cap for our health insurance but it also lowers our support subsidy from 60% (listed in the bill incorrectly as 75%) to 50%.

Eliminating the $65M cap is a great idea and mandating a certain percentage is also a great idea but why are we aiming so low? Why not try to maintain our 60%? Many other IL districts currently receive much higher subsidies.

I think I did make specific suggestions about the website. It needs to be cleaned up and organized. Items from 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 need to be removed. For example, here is no need for kudos to Mr. Cullerton for his speech from 2011 based on his most recent actions. I believe that is Bob's point. Trying to wade through all the old stuff makes finding the more current, relevant information harder.

Maintaining a website does take a lot of time. I am in no way criticizing Mr. Coleman. I think he is dong an excellent job as webmaster but he may need some extra help in streamlining the website.
